One of Rugby's most known traditions is the use of the Gilbert rugby balls. Gilbert has been making rugby balls since the late 1800s and is now probably the most recognizable rugby ball maker in the world. You see Gilbert rugby ball at almost all competition level for rugby union.
My unpopular rugby opinion, Rugby needs more variety and competition among ball manufacturers. Gilbert balls are not necessarily better than other brands, they've just become the default through decades of rugby tradition. Brand loyalty is hard to break.
Imagine the possibility and innovation we could have if there were more brands competing to make better rugby balls, surely I'm not the only one who thinks this! Let’s if anyone else have the same unpopular rugby opinions as me!
