The crowds at rugby matches are known for their enthusiastic chanting and cheering. Perhaps just an unpopular rugby opinion of mine but I think rugby chants are so much worse than football chants. Rugby needs to seriously step up its chant game.
Football fans have perfected the art of clever, witty, and even hilarious chants. They incorporate current events, player personalities, and pop culture references. Rugby chants, on the other hand, tend to be traditional and repetitive. Even the classic "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" rugby chant is dated and overused. Rugby over-relies on traditional drinking songs rather than crafting original modern chants. And the vulgar chants often heard in the terraces are just crude rather than funny. We've even seen Rugby team take up American football team chants, yes I'm talking about you Exeter Chiefs!
Probably an unpopulr rugby opinion, but I think there might some other rugby fans who agree!
